Platforms are the foundation of your kingdom. Platforms are basically your 'Land', you need to use deterium and credits to build platforms, which you can use to construct more stations such as supply depots and fighter pads, which will help you grow in the ranks of your system and even the galaxy. You must remember though that certain play types will have the ability to build more platforms or even build less then other play types.

Other ways to gain platforms would be from attacking other kingdoms (for information on this see the attack help file), and even from buying them off the black market.

The equation below will help you work out how much it will cost you to explore platforms.

$money = money needed to explore 1 platform
$deterium = deterium needed to explore 1 platform

$money = 0.51 * [number of space stations] * [play type explore cost bonus] + 700
$deterium = 0.51 * [number of space stations] * [play type explore cost bonus] + 850
