Forums
There are three types of forums on ShadowOps, these are sector, system and galaxy, all three are explained below.
Sector Forums
The sector forums can only be viewed by members in your sector by clicking the sector forums link. All members of the sector can create threads in these forums, but only the sector leader and the vice sector leader can delete posts, delted threads, and lock threads. These forums are mainly used for small chat between players in that sector, but can be used well to co-ordinate attacks with sector players.
System Forums
The system forums can only be viewed by members of your system by clicking the system forums link. All council members can create topics, delete posts and lock topics, but only the system commander and vice system commander can delete topics. System forums are very important if you want a successful, well organized system. The system forums tend to be used for various topics such as who has donated what, general chat, allies and non agression pacts, to co-ordinate attacks, and maybe even a system competition or two, these forums are extremly useful and it is strongly recommended that all members of the system use them.
Galaxy Forums
The galaxy forums can be vied by everyone on the server by clicking the galaxy forums link. All moderators and administrators can create topics, delete posts and lock topics, but only administrators can delete topics. These forums are mainly used for general chat, game tips, game rules, and show the scores from last round.
How to Post and View Messages
Posting in the forums is simple, once you have entered the forums you wish to use, find the thread that you wish to post in and click on it. Now that you are on the thread you will see a little box at the top of the page, this box will have 5 links in it. The first link will say, return to topic directory, this will take you back to the forum page with all of the threads on it. Underneath that link you will see four more links, these will say first, previous, next and last, you will only be able to click on the next and previous links if there is more then 1 page of post, each page has 20 post on it, the previous link will take you back to the previous page and next link will take you forward to the next page. You will only be able to click on the first and last links if there is more then 1 page of posts, the last link will take you to the last page of posts, if you are not already on it, and the first link will take you to the first page of posts, if you are not already on it.
Underneath these 5 buttons you will be able to view up to 20 posts of that particular thread, and at the bottom of the posts there is a box which you can type your message in. You are only allowed to use a maximum of 3000 characters (letters, numbers, and symbols) in each post, you can also use emotions (these are all shown below), and 5 other options to help you in your message (these are explained below).
"B" stands for bold, this will make any text inside of the [b][/b] tags look like this - BOLD.
"I" stands for italic, this will make any text inside of the [i][/i] tags look like this - ITALIC.
"U" stands for underline, this will make any text inside of the [u][/u] tags look like this - UNDERLINE.
"Q" stands for quote, this will make and text inside of the [quote][/quote] tags look like this - This text has been quoted.
"L" stands for link, this will turn any text inside of the [link][/link] tags into a url, make sure you do not put http:// at the beginning of the link though, as it will not work when people click on it.
